The next Madison Christian School (MCS) Head of School (HOS) has the opportunity to succeed the founding administrator and take a Preschool through 12th grade school of 36 years into the next generation of ministry. MCS is financially stable, debt free and recently accredited by ACSI and AdvancEd. MCS is located in the southeast portion of greater Columbus, Ohio and has a student body of over 500 students. The school enjoys a close partnership with and is a ministry of Madison Christian Church. Having recently revised all Foundational Documents (mission, core values, educational philosophy, etc.), By-Laws and the Governance Policy Manual, the MCS School Board stands ready to govern and support the next HOS.
We are seeking a leader who combines vision, executive judgment, ministry skills and educational leadership, with collegiality, taking MCS to the next level of growth through strategic planning and development. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated administrative experience, organizational and leadership skills and a Christ-centered philosophy/practice of education. Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching as well as experience in development of curriculum, instruction and assessment is desired. A firm grasp of the school’s core values, mission and purpose; an ability to nurture teachers and children; and the skills to interact with parents and donors with clarity, integrity and insight are essential. The HOS leads an Administration Team consisting of the Elementary Principal, Jr/Sr High School Principal, Business Manager, Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment and Director of Development. The HOS will have appropriate Ohio licensure as well as ACSI certification. The HOS is the MCS School Board’s only employee and is or will become a member of Madison Christian Church. We are looking for a humble and transparent individual, who seeks to love and honor God in all areas of leadership and life.

Essential Job Functions of the MCS Head of School
1 Maintain ongoing transparent communication with the school board.
2 Maintain ACSI/AdvancEd Accreditation.
3 Provide effective leadership of administrative teams.
4 Oversee the day-to-day operations, strategic planning and implementation of plans.
5 Maintain alignment of curriculum with the foundational documents and curriculum development process.
6 Develop and implement the CSIP (Continuous School Improvement Plan) in light of current SWOT.
7 Provide effective professional development of faculty.
8 Develop and implement administrative school policies aligned with foundational documents.
9 Recommend the review and update of foundational documents when needed.
10 Maintain cooperative relationship with Madison Christian Church; meet at least quarterly with the Senior Minister for ministry improvement and coordination.
11 Partner with Madison Christian Church intentionally (i.e. service projects, promotion to non-churched families, encouragement/appreciation of pastors).
12 Provide annual scriptural theme and monthly verses.
13 Conduct interviews; hire qualified candidates for vacancies.
14 Deal with escalated school issues.
15 Deal with student issues, parent issues and faculty/staff issues in a God-centered manner.
16 Oversee the implementation of school programs.
17 Serve as a catalyst to the school board for goal-setting and long range planning.
18 Be a primary caster of vision for the administrative teams, faculty and school board.
19 Establish administrative, faculty, and staff goals and monitor progress/achievement.
20 Initiate progressive faculty/staff discipline procedures as needed.
21 Work with the Administrative Team to develop an annual budget plan to ensure adequate resourcing of school programs.
22 Maintain a balanced budget within the parameters of the current enrollment.
