POSITION: International Program Officer

 

LOCATION: Lookout Mountain Office year 1 / West Africa Office years 2-3

 

SUPERVISION: West Africa Program Director

 

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2016

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The International Program Officer will support the expansion of Chalmers’ capacity to train and manage relationships with our growing portfolio of strategic partners. The International Program Officer will in year two and three be the point person in the field for executing and monitoring the Chalmers Center’s work with denominations and church-equipping organizations as they inturn train frontline churches.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commit to pray for the poor and the church in light of the mission of the Chalmers Center
  • Meet regularly with Chalmers Partners, providing backstopping, technical training, technology transfer, capacity building, etc.
  • Lead efforts to implement enhanced reporting systems and processes
  • Implement new accountability measures to ensure adherence to procedures and parameters for training payments to partner organizations
  • Visit Partners to conduct field evaluations, collect data, and report stories
  • Assist with training of additional Lead Trainers
  • Train denominations and church-equipping organizations at live training events offered across the Majority World

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Spiritually mature follower of Jesus Christ
  2. Committed to the Chalmers Center’s vision, mission, and values
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Community Development, or equivalent
  4. Ability to write and speak French or proven ability to learn a foreign language
  5. Experience living in a Majority World country
  6. Willing to travel internationally and to remote regions
  7. Willing to relocate to West Africa in years 2 and 3
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  9. Detail oriented
  10. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  11. Flexible, creative thinker, problem-solving ability, willingness to learn, and a self-starter
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships (often virtually) with a wide range of people, and maintain confidentiality as required
  13. Demonstrated intercultural sensitivity
  14. Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of various software programs including Excel, Outlook, MS Word, Salesforce and willingness to learn new software programs
