Description: The role of the Executive Pastor is to assist the Lead Pastor in overseeing the life and direction of the church (under the direction of the Elder Board). The Executive Pastor will give direct oversight to the staff, implement vision and leadership from the Lead Pastor/Elder Board, and ensure the effectiveness of the day-to-day operations of the church. Essentially, someone with a business mind and a pastor’s heart.
 
The Executive Pastor will be responsible for the following: 
1 Oversee and Execute the Administration of the Church 
-Directly responsible for implementing the staff hiring, dismissal and discipline process in coordination with the Lead Pastor/Elder Board.
-Oversee all staff and department meetings in coordination with the Lead Pastor. 
-Oversee and implement the communication policy of the church.
-Serve as chief financial officer providing oversight and direction in coordination with the Deacon Board.
 
2 Staff Development and Oversight 
-Supervise staff as it relates to day-to-day ministry and operational activities.
-Assist the Lead Pastor in training/coaching, development, and team building of staff.
-Help evaluate ministry performance and salary packages for all of staff.
 
3 Help Strategize and Implement Church Vision and Initiatives
-Take the visionary direction of the Lead Pastor/Elder Board and implement the strategic steps toward completion. 
-Help keep all ministries aligned with our discipleship strategy
 
4 Lead One (or more) Adult Ministries (Men/Women’s Ministry, Missions, etc.) 
-Based on skill set and ministry needs, provide direct leadership to one of our core ministries.
 
5 Assist with Ongoing Pastoral Responsibilities (Counseling, Weddings/Funerals, etc.) 
-Provide counseling as determined necessary.
-Officiate at weddings and funerals as schedule allows (or delegate to appropriate staff).
-Help in the teaching ministry as/if need arises.
 
Qualifications:
*Spiritually mature follower of Christ who is actively discipling others
*Meets the biblical qualifications for an Pastor/Elder in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1
*Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree (preferably in business or biblical studies)
*At least 10 years of high-level management experience
*Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with others (verbal and written)
*The spiritual gifts of leadership and administration
*Organized yet flexible
*Experienced in training and coaching others in ministry
*Proven track record of casting and implementing vision (with various generations)
*Strategic thinker
*Wholeheartedly committed to the Statement of Faith, Constitution, and Bylaws of Sugar Grove Church
